It is definitely Fall...just not here. Sure, there have been some "cool" mornings, but by 2:00 it's in the high 80's and low 90's. My hope is that by Halloween, it will cool off substantially and the fall wardrobe can be in full effect. As for now, I am still milking all I can out of my summer clothes and taking advantage of our close proximity to the beach.
In our hope for cooler weather, Clay and I decided to take a trip to Jacksonville last weekend and camp at Huguenot Memorial Beach Park & Campground. Being right next to the water, it was windy and cool our entire stay. We left Saturday and got there in plenty of time to set up our campsite before heading to dinner. It was SO windy that afternoon, which made it difficult to set up our tent, but we managed to get it all up and ready! The park is located North of Jacksonville so we rode the Ferry over the river to get there a little quicker for dinner.

For dinner, we went to one of our favorite places, Salt Life. We always laugh at the name because we have seen these stickers EVERYWHERE down here, but the atmosphere is fun, the food is always great, and it's reasonably priced. The first time we went here was when we came down last December on our first anniversary to find a place to live before we moved.
After dinner, we went back for a walk on the beach and some relaxation time. The wind was blowing all night, which made for a calming night's rest. Having a queen air mattress helped too!
Our view in the morning was gorgeous!
We got up early, as all campers do with the sunrise, and went to a small local breakfast place. Then we spent the day on the beach. The park has an area you can drive on the beach, even without 4-wheel drive. It was pretty barren so we had plenty of space!

We put these 2 together...the sunglasses are not ours! |
We ended our day at Which Wich and it was a perfect ending to a great weekend. It was just a teaser though...we are still waiting for cooler temperatures!
